Amata

Australian Aboriginal art makes me proud to live in this country. Connection with the earth, vibrant and precise storytelling hidden beneath colourful façades. Tjala Arts (founded by women of the Amata community) contributed to the Contemporary Australia: Women exhibition currently showing at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). I attended a few weeks ago and spent most of my time ‘reading’ these stories, all focused on and featuring women yet not a single princess in sight. Hollywood/Pixar/etc, take notice (please).
