Gangsta Paradise Trap

Inspired by yesterday’s post, here’s my interpretation of a song that defined my early adolescence- Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise.’ Full of tomboy swagger and burgeoning comprehension of social (in)justice, this song was my anthem as I skateboarded the mean streets of our supersafe privileged neighborhood. My notebooks were graffiti’d with lyrics that, considering my career path, sparked genuine passion in me. Listening to Candyland’s trap version these past few days has been a weirdly existential experience…
