Cultural Masquerade

Masquerade is possibly my favourite creative theme. I’m fascinated by the psychology of hiding your true self behind something vibrant and dazzling so that the world doesn’t even think to look behind the mask. Natalie Suarez uses cultural traditions and philosophies (in this case it’s Native American culture) to add an extra layer of intrigue to her illustrations, and the result is mesmerizing. With finely-sketched details, clashing colour palettes that blend effortlessly, and a lingering emotional quality that will keep you wondering about what kind of masks people in your own life wear.
