The Stitching Hour

Embroidery ain’t just for nannas anymore. Sydney design team Maricor & Maricar Manalo use needle and thread to create all sorts of edgy lovely things, not a single doily in sight. Of course my favourites are their typographic pieces. Matching mood + message + type is complicated enough in graphic design even when you don’t also need to figure out which specific stitch to use! The obvious handcrafted aesthetic also helps the audience better appreciate the time and effort that goes into art, something that can be more difficult with print pieces.
